​​FinTech is one of the most exciting and fast-growing sectors in finance, dedicated to exploring the intersection of finance, technology, and innovation. The aim of the FinTech division of WFS is to provide knowledge, opportunity, and access to this through the society.

In order to demystify one of the most disruptive industries today, we provide exposure to recent developments in the intersection of finance, business, and technology by:

​

• Organizing regular presentations and speaker events on topics such as blockchain, digital payments, and cryptocurrencies

​

• Drafting fortnightly insight reports that summarize the latest Fintech news

​

• Coordinating workshops on software skills relevant to Fintech

​

• Extending guidance to students seeking careers in Fintech

​

An exciting addition to the FinTech division this year is our inaugural FinTech Hackathon, designed to bring together students of all backgrounds and skill levels to showcase their creativity and problem-solving ability in a collaborative environment. Alongside this, we host the annual FinTech Week, one of WFS’s flagship events, where leading voices in the industry share their insights and experiences. Last year’s highlights included talks from the CEO of Revolut Trading UK and serial founder Andrew Masanto, who made a memorable entrance by helicopter.

Looking ahead, we will be placing a greater emphasis on the entrepreneurial side of fintech, encouraging members to think beyond existing frameworks and explore how emerging technologies can be leveraged to create new opportunities. Collaboration will also be central to our work, as we plan to partner with other WFS divisions to deliver joint events that broaden perspectives and provide a multidisciplinary approach to finance. Whether through competitions, speaker events, or workshops, the FinTech division provides a platform for students to engage with one of the most innovative and fast-moving sectors in finance.
